You will Learn a New Energizing Language of Positivity that Speaks to the Heart of your Child or Children in your Classroom.
How I CoacH THE NURTURED HEART APPROACH® (NHA)
In our first conversation, we’ll briefly discuss your child’s difficult behavior and how your child uses that to get your energy and attention.
Then I'll begin coaching you in the first level of positive recognitions you can give your child when she is NOT breaking rules. These recognitions will help you and your child start to see and feel her greatness.
You will need to buy and read the book"Transforming the Difficult Child" by Howard Glasser. Together over the 6 hourly sessions, I will coach you to change:
- How you decide which behaviors you will recognize
- How you choose to give the energy of your relationship to your child (or children in your classroom)
- How you establish the consequence for rule-breaking
Your language of positivity will transform your children's ability to make good choices to strengthen their connection with you. Your positivity will inspire their positivity.
Within one month of establishing NHA in your home/classroom, your children will transition from believing and trusting the good things you are saying about them to choosing actions that will get more of your positive energy. Then your main job of parenting, or teaching--raising children with great qualities of character--is well-established, and your home or classroom will be transformed to a place of happy and successful people.

What is the Nurtured Heart Approach® (NHA)?
NHA was created by Howard Glasser, Chairman of the Board of the Children’s Success Foundation. As Howard puts it, “The approach’s core methodologies, which were born out of extensive clinical work, effectively inspire difficult children to channel their intensity in successful ways. Worldwide, hundreds of thousands of parents, educators, and treatment and child-advocacy agencies have used this approach with great results.”

How I Coach Parents
In our first conversation, we'll briefly discuss your child's difficult behavior, and how your child uses that to get you energy and attention.
Then I'll begin coaching you in the first level of positive recognitions you can give your child when she is NOT breaking rules. These recognitions will help you and your child start to see and feel her great qualities of character: her greatness.
You will need to buy and read the book "Transforming The Difficult Child," by Howard Glasser.
Together , over 6 hourly sessions, I will coach you to:
- Decide which behaviors you will recognize
- Choose to give the energy of your relationship to your child
- Establish the consequence for rule-breaking
Your new language of positivity will transform your child's ability to make good choices to strengthen her/his connection with you. Your positivity will inspire her/him to build on these good behavioral choices. Within one month of establishing NHA in your home, your children will be on their way to transition through believing the good things you are saying about them to choosing actions that will get more of your positive energy in verbal recognitions of them. Then your main job of parenting --raising children with great qualities of character--is well-established, and your home will be transformed to a place of happy and successful people.
How I Coach Educators
To transform difficult or intense children in your classroom, you do NOT need more curriculum.
You will need to buy and read "Notching Up--The Nurtured Heart Approach for Educators" by Howard Glasser. In 6 coaching sessions, we will view the presentation of NHA in slide and video format, and do practice activities to get comfortable with how to give energetic comments to students as you see them choosing good behaviors in your classroom, and how to relate to the difficult students to help them choose appropriate classroom behaviors.
You will learn how to:
- Decide which behaviors to recognize and how briefly it can be done
- Choose to give the energy of your relationship to your students
- Establish the consequence for rule-breaking
As we work through the slides and the book, you'll incorporate NHA into your daily brief conversations with your students which will help them realize the great qualities of character they have inside them.
With NHA as your style of relationship-building, all children flourish and the difficult, defiant, resistant behaviors diminish over time. This resulting FREEING of your time opens your day to more time-on-task for curriculum mastery.
I am also available to visit in your classroom (as a certified AACPS substitute teacher) to coach you "from good to great" in your use of NHA recognitions.
